Vista works with our HR colleagues to develop skills and share best practice.
Our HR development program is designed for practising HR Managers. This is an opportunity to share best practice and reflect on the more technical or challenge aspects of the HR role. Sessions are built round lecture delivery followed by and work shop sessions relating to relevant case studies.

We are constantly listening to our clients in respect of this program, if you have specific issues that you would like to covered, either

within these modules or as a free standing course, we would be delighted to hear from you.

These courses will be run as a half day session at various locations.

Dates are soon to be announced for the next 3 units of the HR development program - which will be:

When to use a compromise agreement? How to
calculate a commercially favourable outcome?

  • Without prejudice negotiations - the tricks and pitfalls

  • What do lawyers look for in a compromise agreement?

  • Managing senior team conflict
This unit will bring together the various elements of resolving conflicts and disputes that may (if not resolved) result legal challenge. The session will highlight potential implications of the differing forms of conflict resolution (e.g. compromise agreement or litigate) and how HR can best facilitate commercial decision making in this context.

We will consider the do's and don'ts of without prejudice negotiations and what constitutes an effective compromise agreement. What concessions can and or /should be made when trying to achieve a binding settlement? What do lawyers look for in compromise agreement?

The session will close with a work shop led by Professor Geoff Burton from the Vista Advisory Panel (link) on managing conflicts within senior teams.

  • How to sell dignity at work to operational managers

  • How to deal with an issues without a 'complaint'

  • The implications of upholding a grievance

  • What is and what isn't acceptable, making the judgment call
With the advent of age discrimination and the constant series of judicial decisions relating to dignity at work issues this session is designed to reflect upon the role of HR in this difficult area. We will consider the importance of the buy in of operational managers and how to achieve this, is it the threat of personal liability or reinforcing the desired behaviours?

What should an HR professional do when we 'know' there are bullying or dignity issues but we don't have a complaint to deal with? What about if we have a grievance which makes well grounded allegations, is upholding the grievance going to be an admission of guilt in an employment Tribunal?

By using professional drama sequences we shall look at intervention strategies and how to make the call as to whether intervention is necessary in the 'real world'

  • Details of the courses will be released imminently

This year has seen Vista launch its HR placement program - whereby we offer an opportunity for HR professionals to spend time with the Vista team gaining broad ranging experience of many HR and employment law issues.

This summer an intensive 3 day residential program is to be launched designed to cover all the key employment law elements of HR and how to use employment law to deliver value by the robust support of operational managers.

This program designed for the less experienced HR professional who requires a grounding in all the key areas and challenges of employment law and for the more experience professional who is keen to 'refresh' their knowledge and thinking.

This course is practical in nature and driven by case studies, role plays and professional drama sequences.

The date and venue will be announced shortly.
