I am delighted to be appointed as Vista's non-executive
Chairman from 1 January 2012.
I have over thirty years' experience
of HR working at a senior level in private equity,
listed and multinational environments for major organisations.

Schlumberger, and Enterprise Plc. This has given me
extensive experience of the full spectrum of HR activity
across a number of different business sectors including
the pharmaceutical, electronics, manufacturing and
infrastructure support services industries.
A Fellow of the Chartered Institute
of Personnel and Development I have experienced both
Public and Private sector non-executive roles and
currently sit as a Council member (NED) of Lancaster
University where I am also Chair of the University
Health and Safety Committee and a member of the Remuneration
Committee.

I started my career as an Industrial Relations Adviser

I decided to join the team in the Autumn of 2010. Having

Having qualified as a barrister of the Inner Temple in
November 2011 I began working with Vista. My role within
the team requires me to put into practice the skills and
disciplines I obtained during the Bar Course. I currently
support Tim Cross in assisting with transactional and
legal queries, managing case work and preparing for Tribunal
hearings.
My work at Vista encompasses a vast range of tasks which
span all stages of the employment relationship, from drafting
bespoke employment contracts, dealing with potential disciplinary
issues, assisting managers in conducting fair and effective
disciplinary procedures, drafting defences to claims issued
against employers, managing case files from inception
through to hearing, negotiating settlements and representing
our clients at the Employment Tribunal.

Having joined Vista in 2007 at the commencement of my
LL.B studies I am now building on my experience with Vista
in supporting Tim Cross and other members of the Vista
team.
My responsibilities vary from case management, which includes
preparation of hearing bundles, meeting deadlines set
within Tribunal Orders and finalising settlements, to
co-ordinating and developing Vista's training portfolio
by assisting in the assembly of up to date legal presentations
and workshops. I continue to broaden my role in supporting
clients (directly and indirectly) through legal research
and advice on employment law and related issues.

I joined Vista in January 2012 as Director of Vista
Occupational Health & Safety, having been operating
as a Health and Safety Manager / Practitioner in excess
of 15 years and having been involved in many exciting
projects along the way.
With a background in engineering I have worked in manufacturing
for many years both in a production capacity and in
design. During the course of my work in manufacturing,
as a hobby, I began to study behavioural sciences which
led to a secondment into the area of behavioural safety.

This marked the start of my career
in health and safety and I continued to study H&S
to post graduate level and soon had responsibility
for managing this for a large manufacturing company,
later moving on to consultancy and managing a team

skills are integral to my role at Vista. |

My
work at Vista to date has been predominantly 'litigation
based'. Key tasks involve filing defences (ET3's), case
management and negotiating settlements. I also attend
the Employment Tribunals on behalf of Vista's clients.
In February this year (2012) I appeared before Mrs Justice
Slade in the Employment Appeal Tribunal in discrimination
proceedings in a 'pro bono' case. This represents the
highlight of my 'legal career' to date.
